The Houston Orange Show

A mail carrier in Houston, TX, Jeff McKissack transformed an empty rural lot next to his home into The Orange Show because of his favorite tropical fruit.

Working in isolation from 1956 until he died in 1980, McKissack transformed his land plot using standard building materials and junk like bricks, tiles, fencing, and farm implements into an architectural maze of walkways, balconies, arenas, and exhibits decorated with mosaics and brightly painted iron figures.

What started as a simple task turned into a massive event that attracted hundreds of spectators from all over the United States.

One visitor, an owner of a junk removal company (https://thejunkpirates.com), was amazed since he is accustomed to hauling junk away, not admiring it. But sometimes trash can be transformed into something beautiful, as the Orange Show attests.

The Orange Show Center For Visionary Art

The Orange Show, now called The Orange Show Center For Visionary Art, is an organization that provides educational opportunities to people of all ages, with a vision of helping children develop their visual skills, promote imagination, and foster the creativity of young people.

The Center was established in 1980 and has grown to be an international organization. They offer programs to foster young artists’ growth in the United States, Mexico, Canada, Europe, Asia, and other countries.

The Center offers workshops, lectures, seminars, and other activities. They also sponsor various art and music festivals, giving children a chance to experience the beauty of music and the arts in the outdoors and at night. The Center also encourages parents to get involved and provide their children with the experiences that will allow them to grow into responsible citizens.

The city is noted for its scenic natural beauty and is famous among the tourists. There are many things to do and see in this city that will surely fascinate you.

This city has many attractions which have been known to visitors all over the world. It has many beautiful nature parks and sanctuaries and is also famous for its temples.

Here are three places in Tiruvannamalai not to be missed.

Karthikeyan Temple

Situated approximately 6kms from the coastal town of Nagpur, on the beautiful Seminar hill is the Karthikeyan Temple. Considered the foremost Hindu temple in South Asia, Lord Karthikeyan established the Brahma Temple with the help of his mother Subhadra.

Consisting of a small building, the sacred temple is believed to have been built in the 6th century. The Brahma Temple lies on the anniversary of Karthikeyan’s great victory over the demon Narakasura and is dedicated to Goddess Subhadra.

This holy temple was built inside an elephant temple which has three tiers.

One of the levels is called the vimana where the devotees stand while offering flowers and incense to Lord Karthikeyan.

The second tier or the trayunkala consists of smaller shrines and temples dedicated to Goddess Subhadra and various other deities.

At the end of the trayunkala is the main tower of the Brahma temple where Lord Karthikeyan was installed as the first Brahma asana. The current Brahma temple is located on the top of the main tower.

The main tower of the Brahma temple is believed to have been constructed by Kolis or the god’s servants and it is believed that he made the temple with the help of a council. It is believed that he created the building with the assistance of Vatas or his consort’s son.

According to the legend, once when Vatas and his consort Kolis had left to fetch water, a cloud covered them and the king had his soldiers place stones on the ground and prayed for rain to fall. This resulted in the formation of the present-day Taj Mahal.

This story is related in the mythological narrative called the Ramayana and it is believed that the waters of Ganga had covered the kingdom of Magadh and hence, Lord Karthikeyan had the idea of building the Taj Mahal on the banks of Ganga.

Thirumalai Nayak Palace

The second place to visit is the Thirumalai Nayak Palace located on the left bank of the Vembanad Lake in the city of Madurai.

It is one of the most important monuments of Tamil Nadu that symbolizes the supremacy of royalty and is surrounded by a fortress, palaces, temples and lush greenery.

In the year sixteen 36AD King Tirumala Nayak built this palace for himself in the memory of his father. Thirumalai Nayak was a fierce king that had constructed this palace even though he was not particularly interested in building for himself. The reason behind the construction of the Palace was to celebrate his succession to the throne of the erstwhile King Rama V. Thirumalai Nayak did not care much about the construction of palaces or any other edifices, he was more interested in his own image. According to the legend, he told his minister that he wanted his image to be decorated on the walls of his palace with the help of an Italian architect whom he had made acquaintance in the Italian court of the time.

The Italian architect worked in harmony with the Thai princess, and the project was completed in sixteen 36AD. Thirumalai Nayak’s reign was extremely short, and the whole palace was destroyed during World War II. The ruins of the palace can be seen to this day, and it is believed that they were totally destroyed during the war.

But there are those who believe that the legend of the king thirumalai nayak’s palace being destroyed is actually a fabrication, and that the entire story of the restoration work was invented so as to make the royal family look good. Whatever the case may be, Thirumalai Nayak Palace was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1988.

Chinnar Wildlife Sanctuary

The last to visit in Tiruvannamalai India is the Chinnar Wildlife Sanctuary.

That’s why you can’t afford to take chances when planning your travel.

Today, it’s easier to travel as you wish. Thanks to many travel agents that are available in the market to give you the best experience every time you plan your trip.

However, not every travel agent will be good for you. Some will woo you with promises they can’t keep, and others you’ll regret having traveled with them.

But this is not always the case. If you do your homework well in choosing a travel agency, you’ll never travel alone again.

In this article, we’ll share with you top factors to consider when choosing a Travel Agent for your next vacation.

  • Customer Service

Your welfare as a customer matters a lot to a travel agent. How you’re served will determine your experience with the travel agent.

Start by enquiring simple information with the travel agent. Check how long they take before answering calls or responding to your emails.

Also, listen to customer care support. Listen to how they respond to your queries. This simple task would give you a clear picture of the customer service for the travel agent.

  • Customer Reviews

You need to choose a travel agent that has experience in dealing with customers. Check what other travelers say about this travel agent. Go online and check for reviews.

If the agent is good, you’ll find many positive reviews and comments from their previous customers. But if you find most customers are complaining about the services they received, be sure nothing is likely to change.

Previous customer experience will give you a clear picture of what to expect when you’re working with a particular travel agent.

  • Resources

A good travel agent should have resources that you’ll need for your vacation. Check a travel agent with a good transport arrangement. They might not have everything, but there should be enough facilities to take care of your primary traveling needs.

  • Relationships

When you’re traveling, you need an agent that has a strong relationship with your destination. Most travel agents have built strong relationships across the world.

For instance, when you’re traveling to a foreign country, find a travel agent with good relationships with hotels, transport, and other facilities that you need in a foreign country.

  • Industry Knowledge and Experience

You can enjoy your vacation up to the maximum level of your agent knowledge and experience. Find a travel agent that knows in and out of your vacation destination. This will help you get the very best experience in where you plan to go.

Parting Shot

A travel agent will go a long way to relieve you of the hustle of planning a vacation. But this can only be achieved if you find a travel agent with a good reputation in the industry.
